Seeing Allah - The Best Gift of Life

What is the reward of those who worship Allah? What is the reward of the believers who went through the hardship of waking up early in the morning to pray to Allah? What is the reward for students who try their best to worship Allah during both times of ease and times of hardship? Allah will reward his obedient slaves with Jannah–Paradise.

Allah says in the Quran:
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ . ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ آمِنِينَ
“Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs. [It will be said to them], "Enter it in peace and security." [15: 45-46]

What is Jannah and what does it contain? There are many descriptions of Jannah. You may know about the food in Jannah, the drinks, the social gatherings, the palaces, and so on. Regarding the food, every bite gets better and tastier. The second bite is better than the first and the third is better than the second. Regarding social gatherings, you will be able to meet all of the prophets and messengers of Allah. You will be able to meet the first man on Earth, the Prophet Adam. You will be able to meet Prophet Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, and the greatest of all creations, the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon them all). You will also have the opportunity to meet your friends and family members. In terms of the palaces in Jannah, subhanAllah, they will be made out of gold, pearls and other precious and glamorous materials. In a hadith regarding the description of the palaces, the Prophet ﷺ said that, “from the outside you can see the inside and from the inside you can see the outside” [Tirmidhi] – meaning that it will have a see-through design to it. Moreover, under the palaces there will be rivers flowing.

And the best reward in Paradise will be to see Allah. The Prophet ﷺsaid,“When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, Allah will say, ‘Do you want anything more?’ They will say, ‘Have You not brightened our faces, admitted us to Paradise and saved us from Hell?’ Then the veil will be lifted and they will not have seen anything dearer to them than looking upon their Lord, may He be glorified and exalted.” [Muslim]

When the veil will be lifted, we will all see Allah for the first time and that will be the biggest gift and reward for the believers in Jannah. There is nothing comparable to the enjoyment and happiness the believers will go through when they see Allah. When we see something beautiful or gorgeous, such as a cute animal or the incredible sky, we become amazed. In Paradise we will see the Creator of beauty. We will see the Maker of the Heavens and the Earth. We will see the One who created you, me, your parents, and the whole of humanity.

Now the question is, do you want to be amongst those who see Allah? Do you want to earn the pleasure of Allah? Well, start today. Start praying 5 times a day; start doing good to those around you. Whenever you have the opportunity to do good, be it a small or big one, take it. The senior students should look after the young ones. The older students should display good behaviour and manners, so that the younger ones can pick it up and display it themselves. The older students should help reduce tensions and should give valuable advice so that those around them can benefit. If you want to see Allah, then continuously attempt to reduce, and then, eliminate bad habits.

Second Part

One of the rules of life is that: if you do something for Allah, or you give up something for Allah, then Allah will give you something better in return. The Prophet ﷺ said,“Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better.” [Ahmed]

We have been created in this world, not so that we can achieve whatever we want, and whatever we desire in this world, but that we follow the plan of Allah in such a way that when we arrive in Paradise, we will then be able to achieve whatever we desire. You left your food for the sake of Allah; Allah will reward you with the food of Jannah. You left your drinks for the sake of Allah; Allah will give you rivers of drinks in Jannah. We need to start decorating our Jannah with good deeds. If you pray 2 or 3 times a day, go to the next level and pray 5 times a day. Decorate your Paradise with prayer, charity, and all other good actions. Moreover, consistently make dua to Allah to allow us to enter Paradise and see Him. The Prophet ﷺnarrated a dua:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ لَذَّةَ النَّظَرِ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ وَالشَّوْقَ إِلَى لِقَائِكَ
“Oh Allah, I ask You for the delight of gazing at Your Face and the eagerness of meeting You”. [Nasaa’i]

We ask Allah to accept our good deeds and give us the tawfeeq to do more and to enter Jannatul Firdaws.
